What to Expect

Springfield Oaks Church is a friendly and welcoming, hometown church

Be Our Guest

We warmly invite you, your family, friends, and neighbors to join us for Sunday morning worship – or any of the activities and ministries that occur in our church each week. You will find people eager to introduce themselves and make you feel at home. If you have questions, feel free to ask anyone you meet – or the staff members or ushers, who can be found at the front entrance before and after each service.

FAQS

Here are some answers to frequently asked “guest” questions:

  • 8:30 a.m. Contemporary Service
  • 9:45 a.m. Sunday School
  • 11:00 a.m. Traditional Service

The music at the 8:30 a.m. service is “contemporary” with guitars, drums, keyboards and a full band that loves to lead in worship to God. The 11:00 a.m. service is a “traditional” Methodist service for those who connect to God through hymns and liturgy. We utilize both our piano and organ and hear great specials from the Springfield Oaks Chancel Choir. The sermon in both services is identical and offers Bible-centered teaching that will challenge you and deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord. Between our two services, you are invited to our commons area to talk more with people you have met, grab a cup of coffee, and attend Sunday School.

Yes! Nursery is available for infants and toddlers. The nursery is located behind the sanctuary and can be accessed by entering through the sanctuary or “Dent Hall” (social hall) doors. We practice a policy called MinistrySafe which means all infant, children, and youth workers have undergone background checks and specific training.

Yes! After the Prayer Time and before the sermon, children (Pre-K through 5th grades) are invited to attend Children’s Church. Under the direction of our Children’s Director, Amy Morgan, volunteers lead children in a biblically based lesson and activities. Children can be picked up after the service upstairs in room 210 located in the Children’s Sunday school wing.

Yes! Your infants and children are very welcome in our sanctuary. We love to see families worship together. Our nursery and Children’s Church options are available to give you a choice and to provide the most comfortable worship atmosphere for you and your family.

We serve communion on the first Sunday of the month during our morning services. Everyone is welcome to take communion at the Lord’s table – no matter their history, denomination, or creed.  Although we strongly encourage you to participate in Holy Communion, we completely understand if you choose not to.

While we hope you will feel welcome at Springfield Oaks Church, rest assured that you will not be “put on the spot”, singled-out, or embarrassed. Although we do receive an offering from our church family, we do not want anyone to feel obligated to give. We do strongly encourage you, our guest to fill out some basic information about yourself and your family for the purpose of getting to know you and welcome you. However, if you prefer not to provide any information, that is perfectly acceptable.

We invite you to feel comfortable when you come to worship God at Springfield Oaks Church.  While most people wear “dress” or “work” clothes, you will see people comfortable in all types of clothing. In short, wear what is comfortable for you! You are welcome with us!
